Some people have asked me if it is necessary to get photos of them getting ready. Some couples just don’t see the need. I get questions like “Why should I get pictures while getting my make up on?” The truth is, Getting Ready Photos are much more that just picture getting your make up on…
I personally LOVE starting the day with these photos, and there many reasons why.
I’m a story teller, I like to give you a complete story of your day, and the Getting Ready is the introduction. It sets the mood, tells the story from the beginning. For me, it is a big part of the day. For the bride (and the groom) it helps them to feel confortable in front of the camera, so when the formal portraits come they are more at ease. It also gives me the chance to warm up to the bridal party and parents, usually I don’t meet any if the family members until this time, so I take this opportunity to learn their names and get to know them a bit, it makes my job afterwards a to easier.
There is usually a bit chaos, a lot of emotions and moments between everybody involved that I love to capture. So many unexpected things happen, emotions are raw and some tears are shed.
When you have any of your parents or grandparents there, they will cherish these last moments before the big day, I want to capture that. If the wedding party is present, it is usually a lot of fun and a rare moment to be together, getting pampered, in the same room.
Early in the day the flower are fresh, the dress is still clean and ironed, the make up is flawless. Everything is perfect!
When you get your final photos, this will give you a glimpse on what was going on your partners side. The bride can see how the guys were having fun before the wedding, the groom can get an idea of how it takes to look that beautiful.
