Photography classes at The Art Institute of Weston
The Art Institute of Weston will be offering a series of photography classes starting the first week of September.
Fundamentals of Photography III will be offered Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Fundamentals I will be offered on Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Small classes will allow personal interaction, questions and personalized learning. There will be weekly assignments and a field trip with the instructors.

DSLR Camera highly recommended. (Digital cameras with interchangeable lenses)

Fundamentals of Photography I class.
Unveiling the camera
An introduction to major features of your camera. Anatomy and function of a DSLR. What are all those buttons for?
Understanding Exposure
Shutter speed, aperture and ISO. What it is, what it does to your image and the relationship between the three.
Lenses, Focus and sensors
Understanding how each affect the image.
Understanding light
An introduction to the main element in photography. Characteristics of light and it affects the image.
Composition and photographic vision.
The guidelines: identifying the subject, focusing on the subject, minimizing the elements. The artistics elements of a photograph. How placing of objects play a part in the aesthetics of the images.
Basic Photographer’s workflow and introduction to organizing and editing your images in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
Field Trip and weekly assignments to be discussed in class.
Fundamentals of Photography II class.
Expanding the technical skills and conceptual vision of photography acquired in “Fundamentals of Photography I class”. Application to field exercises.
How to see photographically. The vision and planning of a photograph.
Applying the exposure triangle to creativity. Depth of Field (DOF), Hyperfocal distance, action freezing, panning, motion blur…
Elements of a photograph, planes in the photograph, framing, leading lines. The value of the elements.
Camera accessories and gadgets.
Lenses. Wide angles, telephoto and macros. Uses, effects, quality and characteristic of the image.
Quality, quantity and direction of natural or ambient light.
Field Trip and weekly assignments to be discussed in class.
Fundamentals of Photography III class.
The personal style of great photographers.
Get to know the masters and some of their most iconic photographs.

THE INSTRUCTORS
Fabian Michelangeli
Born and raised in Venezuela. Self-taught photographer with 40+ years of experience with special interest in wildlife, landscape and travel photography. His photographs have been published in magazines (National Geographic, Geo, Terre Sauvage, Outdoor Photography and other Venezuelan magazines) and corporate and self-published books, most of them on Venezuelan Nature. Has conducted photography workshops in Venezuela and Africa.

Matea Michelangeli
Originally from Venezuela, Matea is a Portrait, and commercial photographer, specializing in families and event photography with a style consisting of colorful and energetic imagery. After living in three countries and 7 different states in the US, she recently relocated to Weston with her family.
